Awards: 2007 Printz Award, 2007 Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album
Author/Illustrator Website: http://geneyang.com/
Media Used: Pen and ink

Annotation:
This has three storylines.  One features a monkey who wants to be accepted as human, another, a boy who wants to be accepted as American, and another about a boy ashamed by his Asian cousin.  All learn to accept themselves.

Personal Reaction:
At first I did not think I would like this book.  I quickly discovered that even though the book teaches a lesson, it is presented in a funny way.  Throughout the book,  many stereotypes are presented, and they are stereotypes that I have seen in action before.  The fact that I understood where everything was coming from made the book all the more enjoyable.
