Objectives and Goals (State Standard)

• ·          Students will be made aware of the events that preceded Anne Frank’s written diary.

• ·          Students will  practice the art of the art of the art of the art of the art of the art of the art of the art of the art of the art of comparing and contrasting

Anticipatory Set:

• ·         Remind students that this book is based on true events

Direct Instruction:

• ·          We will have a discussion

• ·          We will make vin diagrams to compare and contrast the original diary and the graphic novel

Guided Practice:

• ·          Discussion-

o   What are some of the similarities and differences between the two?

o   What things in the book really stood out to you as being unjust?

Closure:

• ·          After we have finished the discussion, explain homework assignment.

Independent Practice:

• ·          Homework-make a vin diagram comparing and contrasting the two books.  Included at least 5 similarities and 5 differences for each book.

Required Materials and Equipment:

• ·          N/A

Assessment and Follow-Up:

• ·          Discuss what the students found to be similar and different

• ·          Grade assignment and provide feedback
