Annotation:
Ruth goes on a road trip with her family, and she discovers the inequality between blacks and whites. her family is turned away from gas stations and hotels until someone introduces them to a book with resources for African Americans.
Personal Reaction:
I had never heard about "The Green Book" prior to reading this story. I am very impressed that someone was able to compile such a complete book that helped so many people. After reading this story, I cannot imagine how an African American would be able to travel without it! The story was very simple, but it conveyed the importance of comradery during the times of civil rights injustice towards African Americans.
