Media Used: Digital media

Annotation:
Author Barbara Kerley tells about the process young Susy went through to write a biography of her father, Mark Twain.  Portions of the book feature Susy's original writing, revealing interesting facts about Mark Twain, such as his love for cats.

Personal Reaction:
I enjoyed this book.  I especially liked the interactive flaps that the book had featuring some of Susy's original writing. This added to the amount of time it took to read the book, making it a more memorable experience.

Detailed Description of Art:
Each page is framed in foliage.  This adds to the idea that the book is "looking back" in time.  The pictures are not standard scenes, but rather one or two characters standing with no background most of the time.  The colors are mainly greens and yellows, again adding to the age of the topic.  The author made good use out of colors and styles to put the reader in the time period.

Metaphor: (unpaged...approximately page 20) "But sometimes Papa had to suffer when, as he put it, some "mentally dead people brought their corpses with them for a long visit."   This is a metaphor for stupid people who he dreaded having to talk to.  Obviously, they were not actually bringing corpses with them, so this is a metaphor.
