Annotation:
Lemuel Gulliver travels to several imaginary lands.  In one land, he is considered a giant, and in another a tiny creature, and yet another land is run by horses.  He learns to look at life in a fresh way.

Personal Reaction:
I read Gulliver's travels in my high school English class.  I did not much care for the book then.  After reading this version of the book, I have a much better understanding of the story.  The pictures and simplified text  made it so that I was actually able to understand the book while reading it, as opposed to having a bunch of annoying fancy words flow across the page.

Sophisticated Language:
As this is an abridged version of a book that was written hundreds of years ago, this book is filled with sophisticated language.  The very first page is written almost entirely in a sophisticated way.  The first page says "My father had a small estate in Nottinghamshire and I was the third of five sons.  I went to Cambridge to study medicine but my father could not afford to keep me there, so instead I became an apprentice to a surgeon.  But it was always in my mind to travel..."    If this book was written today, it would have simply said, My dad  had a house in Nottinghamshire, and I had 4 brothers......I always wanted to travel"
