Objectives and Goals
- To become familiar with the declaration of independence
Anticipatory Set:
- Remind students that the illustrations are dramatizations of what actually happened, and that they are intended to add some humor to the situation
- If possible, provide each student with a copy of the book, or at least enough for students to share. Read the actual declaration of independence out loud while they follow along in the illustrated version.
- Discuss the meaning of different parts of the document
- Explain homework
- Select one paragraph of the document to illustrate on your own. Make sure the illustration accurately explains the passage
- N/A
- If they receive a passing grade on the assignment, they have demonstrated an understanding of the document.
