Objectives and Goals
- To understand where current technology originated from
- Practice research skills
Anticipatory Set:
- Remind the students that the book is a dramatized presentation of the facts
- Discuss the inventions that Ben Franklin made prior to reading this book
Direct Instruction:
- Read the book to the class
Guided Practice:
- Take the class to the library and offer them guidance in selecting materials to research inventions
Closure:
- Explain homework
Independent Practice:
- Homework-you may either write a paper or write a picture book explaining the differences between 5 pieces of modern technology and what was originally used in place of it. Included information on who invented each piece of technology
Required Materials and Equipment:
- Library
Assessment and Follow-Up:
- If the student receives a passing grade they will have demonstrated an understanding of research skills and inventions
